Game guide
Snake
Your goal
Collect food and grow without running into the edge or your own body. The ultimate goal is to fill the whole field.
How to play
- Start the game with Enter or by tapping the field. The snake begins with three segments and keeps moving on its own; you choose where it turns.
- Steer the head onto the food. Each portion adds one segment to the tail and one to the food counter. New food appears in a free cell.
- Turn at right angles. A direct reversal into the opposite direction is ignored, so make a wide loop when you need to go back.
- The field has solid boundaries: crossing an edge loses the game. It does not wrap around to the other side.
Controls
Computer
WASD
Use the arrow keys or W, A, S, D to turn. The numeric keys 8, 4, 2, 6 also work. You do not need to hold a key to keep moving.
EnterStart, pause or resume
Phone or tablet
Swipe anywhere across the field in the direction you want to turn, then lift your finger. Tap the field to start or pause. Choose the next turn before the head reaches a wall.
Progress and the end of a game
- Speed increases after every five portions of food, up to level 10. You can also choose a speed manually; later food milestones continue increasing it from that setting.
- A collision with a boundary or the body ends the game. Filling every cell wins. After a finished game, start again to reset the snake, food count and speed.
Useful tips
- Keep an open corridor between the head and the tail. Food inside a small loop is dangerous if you cannot get out after growing.
- Make broad, deliberate turns and avoid the edges when learning. Lower the speed to practise controlling a longer snake.
