Balloon fight

Your goal

Stay airborne, burst enemy balloons from above and finish each wave. Protect your two balloons and stay clear of the water.

How to play

  • Hold the flap control to gain height. Without lift you descend, and horizontal movement has momentum: allow space to slow down or change direction.
  • Get above an enemy to burst its balloon. The falling pilot can be caught for more points; if allowed to land, it can inflate a balloon and return.
  • Losing one balloon reduces your lift. Losing the last balloon costs a life. Water, the jumping fish and storm lightning are additional hazards.
  • The left and right edges connect, so flying off one side brings you back on the other. Platforms and their edges affect both your body and balloons.

Controls

Computer

Use Left/Right or A/D to steer. Hold Space, Up or W to flap. Enter or P starts or pauses; the restart button begins a fresh run.

Phone or tablet

Swipe up and hold to flap, left or right and hold to steer, or diagonally upward to combine them. Release to coast; move back to the starting point to stop that input. Tap the field to pause.

Progress and the end of a game

  • You start with three lives. Bursting a balloon, catching a falling pilot and completing a wave award points. Clearing all enemies starts another wave.
  • The run ends when all lives are lost. Watch the life counter and balloon count separately: one remaining balloon is not one remaining life.

Useful tips

  • Approach enemies from above with room to brake. Chasing a falling pilot down to the water can cost more than the extra points are worth.
  • With one balloon, gain height early and avoid low routes. Watch the water warning and cloud strikes rather than looking only at enemies.
